In these unsettled and worrisome times, I was happy to have brought big smiles to my French students’ faces for what came to be our last French IV class in person for this term. On Thursday March 12, the Grade 12 French class went to Studio Artisane in Falmouth. Under the watchful guidance of master artisan Sandrine Moser, owner and teacher at Studio Artisane, each student chose to build a shelf using power tools, while receiving precise instructions in complete French immersion. They built some lovely wooden shelves, which they took home that very same day.

It was so much fun to watch their engagement and care… et tout en français! I am so very grateful that we were able to do this last outing, before the school closing. It gave the students a respite from this world wide serious health concern, as well as an opportunity to hear/speak French for three hours while learning new vocabulary related to building. In the words of one of my students, Myla McLain, “It was as if I was again in Avignon on my exchange, it was a fantastic experience! Merci Madame!”
